DIY Pest Control : Application

Plumbing and heating pipes are like a freeway for a bed bug! Caulk or seal any space around plumbing pipes. Then vacuum and spray our Organic Solution liberally all cracks, crevices and corners. This Dyanamic solution (nontoxic) provides a powerful residual. Death is within 24 hours. Apply to any crack, crevice or corner. Safe on beds and bed room furniture.

Apply a light mist to the entire mattress. Pay particular attention in spraying mattress seams, buttons and tears. Don’t forget to treat the bottom of the mattress, box springs and bed frame.
The objective is not the quantity of spray used, but rather the proper placement of the enzyme cleaner. Spray  into cracks, crevices and corners! BE THOROUGH.

Inspect and spray along baseboards, window frames, wall paper edges, heat registers and other moldings. As it may be impossible to penetrate all hiding places immediately, control may not be immediate and bugs may be seen for few days after treatment.

Vacuum thoroughly. Check behind pictures, drapes, wall sockets and even closets. Bed bugs are annoying and persistent. Getting rid of them requires persistence.

Bed bugs hide in extremely small cracks, crevices and corners, making it difficult to locate breeding sites. These vampires of the insect world venture from their hiding spots at night.

Life Span! Bed bugs can live a year or longer without food (blood) and thus stay in their hiding places. Bed bugs can travel long distances and survive in suitcases, clothing, vehicles, aircraft, and cruise ships. Bed bug females lay about 300 eggs. Bed bugs hatch from eggs in 10 days, so it is vital to repeat the above process again within 10 days. As soon as they smell the product they may seek protection deep into mattress, beds, box springs, head boards and other nearby crevices and cracks. They hide in small and tiny places. So it is hard to get the Organic Solution in the areas where they have found refuge.Depending upon the Bug population it may be necssary to use our Organic Products in a Non Thermal fogger.

Our fogger was designed for control of flying or crawling insects and other pests that inhabit your home or structures. This light weight six pound hand held ULTRA LOW VOLUME non thermal fogger emits a “Chemical Free ” COLD FOG that will penetrate the hardest to reach points in your home, barn, yard, vegetable garden or poultry house.

The adjustable VMD (droplet size) allows for wet or dry fog applications that can be used safely inside on furniture, clothing, bedding or in the cupboards. A must for any household that is subject to biting or crawling insects such as Bed Bugs, Mites, Fleas, Ticks, Lice, Carpet Beetles, Silverfish, Roaches or other type arthropod.

The Science behind Cedarshield Wood Stabilizers

All woods and bamboo contains two different forms of moisture. They are referred to as  “FREE WATER and BOUND WATER.  Free water harbors in the fiber structure of the wood.  Bound water is found in the Hydroxyl molecule that is the sole make up of cellular compounds. A hydroxyl molecule has two tails. A hydrogen tail and a oxygen tail. The uptake of these two compounds creates H20 or water. Expansion and contraction of wood is created when the hydroxyl molecules take on more or less airborne or liquid moisture.
CedarShield is a solvent treatment.  Solvents will instantly displace free water from the fiber structure of wood.  Certain silanes used in the CedarShield formulation are water scavengers.  Since they are of extremely low molecular weight they are capable of penetrating the cell wall structure of the molecule and attacking the water inside the molecule. The water is then replaced with a Si-Jel Matrix, a pliable silicone compound made up of silicone and cedar oil.  This phenomenon is created by a catalytic conversion that uses the bound water to trigger a hydrophobic reaction inside the hydroxyl molecule.  The un-utilized and excess water is then released and exits the wood in the form of ethanol gas. The Cedar Oil component of the formulation is a synergism which allows the solution to bond with the water and subsequently water proofs the wood from the inside out. It further performs as a termiticide and a fungicide that provides additional protection to the wood.
Summary:  When the hydroxyl group molecule is stabilized, the wood is moisture free. The hydrogen and oxygen tails of the molecule are sealed from liquid or air borne moisture and cannot expand or contract as they would in non-stabilized wood. Stabilized wood cannot move and therefore no cracking, splitting, cupping or warping will take place. Fastener rejection is eliminated. Subsequently, the absence of moisture becomes the absence of issues as the early stages of wood Petrification are triggered.  Petrified wood is moisture free wood laced with silicone deposits. The cedar oil component of the formulation is encapsulated in the wood and provides perpetual protection from insect and fungal organism attack.
CedarShield is next generation technology at its best.  It is a patented formulation that when applied correctly provides a ONETIME-LIFETIME Treatment to wood and bamboo of any species.

Bed Bug Insurance Policy

For the hospitality industry, parasites are an especially sensitive subject. A high level manager at a prestigious hotel adjacent to LAX International Airport, who wished to remain anonymous, treated her 640 rooms with the product last year to combat a severe bed bug infestation. We initially fogged the total structure with BEST YET. We now do a follow up spray of the beds and rooms once a month.  Since this is not a synthetic chemical, an applicators license is not required. Our housekeeping and maintenance people do the treatments. We no longer require the services of an exterminator. “BEST YET is a Bed Bug insurance policy we could not buy with any other product” stated the hotels owner. This opinion is mirrored nationwide by the hospitality industry, apartment complexes, college dormitories and consumers alike.

The hotel manager further notes that she has been in the hospitality business for over 25 years and had never seen the bed bug problem before.   Laws banning the harmful organophosphate pesticides such as DDT, Dursban and Diazinon went into effect some years ago. The weaker neurotoxins, primarily natural or synthetic  Pyrethroid substance have lost their effectiveness.  All neurotoxins are banned in the U.S. in 2011. Major pesticide manufacturers are eager to find an effective GREEN solution.

How to Control Bed Bugs with our Non Toxic Product

The following data will instruct you on how best to use your purchase of BEST YET solution for control of Fleas, Ticks, Mites, Lice, Bed Bugs, Chiggers, Silverfish, Roaches, Ants, Carpet Beetles, Springtails, Scorpions, Spiders, Mosquitoes, Flies and a array of other non beneficial insects.  BEST YET can be used on any surface area including skin, hair, cloth or leather furniture, wood, hardwood floors, tile and linoleum floors, clothing, mattress and box springs, carpet, kitchen counters and inside cupboards and pantry areas. It also makes a excellent furniture polish. BEST YET is formulated with food grade EPA and FDA approved compounds that are safe to use on anything except plant life. It will not stain or attract dirt. Feel free to use it liberally as a liquid, mist, or with a NON THERMAL ULV fogger, depending on your objective.  Rest assured, you can not use to much solution.  The following will suggest a proper protocol for application of BEST YET for one or more of the animal health or insect control endeavors you may be contemplating. BEST YET is a READY TO USE solution and cannot be diluted.

Using The hand held compression sprayer, discharge a mist of BEST YET SOLUTION on the horizontal and vertical surface of the linen stripped mattress, box spring and headboard of the beds.  Using the same procedure, spray the furniture in the room with the same type mist, the objective being that of triggering a INSTANT KILL to the bed bugs, mites and fleas at large.  Roll back any seams or material tucks of the mattress or box spring and liberally treat those areas with additional spray. Remove the cushions from any furniture and treat the bottom sides and the cushions wells. Chairs with cloth cushions should be treated on the bottom side as well as the top. Using the compression sprayer that is dispersing a fine mist of BEST YET, treat each and every square inch of horizontal floor surface area including but not limited to the carpet, tile and wood floor areas.  Spray the mop boards first and any drapes and curtains  to at least 24 inches from the floor. Work backwards from the farthest point of the room making sure a liberal amount of the solution is being applied to all areas.  It is imperative that no area be left untreated. Spray the legs of all furniture and any lamp posts or other vertical supports.  Treat any and all dresser or vanity areas with a light spray.  Remember, Bed Bugs are nocturnal and are difficult to find in the light.  It is extremely important to treat the box spring cavity located on the bottom of the bed.  Remove the fine mesh cob web netting to gain access to the spring area.  Treat this area liberally as it is often the main hiding place for bed bugs.

Fill the fogger reservoir with the ready to use BEST YET solution.  It is suggested that a adjustable VMD (volumetric mean diameter) Tri-Jet Fogger be used  to facilitate both dry and wet fog applications. This adjustment will enable the operator to adjust the size of fog droplet being discharged from the fogging machine. Prior to fogging it is suggested that the seams and tucks of the mattress and any other cloth material be rolled back and treated with a mist or spray. The mattress should be removed from the bed so that both sides and total coverage of the surface can be treated. Using a dry to medium wet fog discharge, treat directly on the mattress, box spring and headboard.  Repeat the same application to all cloth covered furniture insuring that at minimum, a slight dampness of solution is  detectable.  Working backward from the far end of the room, and aiming the fogger at the floor areas,  disperse a wet fog over all Carpet, wood flooring and tile areas.  Be sure to direct the fog under furniture and into corners and at least twenty four inches up from the floor area of any drapes in the room.    Disperse a fog directly into any cupboards, drawers or closets. The amount of approximately 1 gallon of solution per one thousand square foot of surface area is suggested to insure a 100 % elimination and prevention of immediate re-infestation of insects. For control of mites it is necessary to fog all drapes, curtains and closet clothing.  Be sure adequate amounts of BEST YET are discharged into the air of each room. Remove the furnace filter from the cold air return and with the air handler circulating air throughout the structure discharge into the return air cavity.  This will circulate the fog throughout the structure killing all bacteria and dust mites in the duct work leading to all areas of the home.  Before leaving the room start the air conditioner unit or air circulator and allow it to circulate the air in the room.  This will eliminate any dust mites in the AC system. Replacing the filter is recommended. It is suggested that each room be closed and the fog allowed to settle for approximately 2 hours before occupation. Any overwhelming aromas will dissipate in a matter of 6 hours. The structure can be aired out if desired but it is suggested it be kept closed for at least two hours after treatment to enable a pheromone interruption event to impair and destroy the insects mental capacities and triggering their subsequent death.

Apply BEST YET on the floor, mop boards or floor molding, rugs, carpet, mattress and box spring, bed clothing, furniture and anywhere else those parasites or other insects might be. It will not stain or attract dirt.  I suggest you use a tank type compression sprayer (included in the BEST YET KIT). The commercial type sprayer will make it easier to get in the difficult places such as under furniture, beds etc. It will also provide a consistent delivery of the solution often difficult to do when using a trigger sprayer. Remember, you want to treat all areas as this product is considered a CONTACT KILLER and must either touch the insect or be inhaled by the pest to incur death. The odor of BEST YET is not offensive but somewhat overwhelming for a hour or two when total home treatments are conducted.  Given a short amount of time, the atmosphere will evolve into a refreshing clear cedar closet aroma. Wait several days after treatment before cleaning or vacuuming the floor areas. This will give the solution a opportunity to erode and dehydrate the insect egg and larvae in the treated area. Recommended application is 1 gallon per 1000 square foot of horizontal treatment area. The aroma of the cedar oil will impair the mental capacities of any “New Hatch”  that survives the treatment, and, subsequent death will incur usually within 72 hours or less. It is imperative that the total structure be treated to insure there is no reoccurrence of the pest.  Parasites such as Fleas will often move from one area to another, such as from basements to other levels. Walking the treated area after treatment wearing white socks will usually expose any areas harboring fleas, as the flea will be attracted to white.  Areas where this occurs should be re-treated immediately to eliminate the egg layer cycle and eliminate the next generation of flea.

BEST YET is considered a contact killer.  The objective is to apply a mist or spray directly on the flea or in the alternative, close enough to him that he can breathe the mist from the sprayer. All insects breathe through their body and when their many breathing pores are exposed to the solution, it triggers a suicide response by commanding the closure of the arthropods breathing pores.  Insects must have the available heat found in air to survive, or their internal organs immediately cease to function creating instant death.  Use the product liberally the first time making the animal wet with the solution.  You will observe fleas falling from the animal at once.  Take a moment and make sure the feet, leg pits, groin, belly, neck, tail and rectum are treated well.  Cedar Oil is a anti-bacterial and will promote the healing of any sore or dry flaky spots on the Pet often referred to as flea dermatitis.  It will also moisten the animals skin with cedar oil, eliminating the dry skin often caused naturally or by bathing the animal. Feel free to use as much BEST YET on the animal as you wish. You cannot overdo the treatment. You will find that this process will stimulate the animals hair making it healthy and attractive. As with any repellent, human or animal, repeat applications depend on exposure to insects.  Keep your Pets feet, legs and underbelly treated with a spray prior to entry into flea infested areas.  This will help eliminate the fleas that insist on hitching a ride on the animal and returning to your home.  Repeated liberal applications on a daily basis to HOT SPOTS or MANGE areas will trigger the mite demise and hair growth will resume immediately. A application into the ear canal with a subsequent external ear massage will destroy any ear mites or chronic fungal organism issues the animal has in that part of its body.

The Absence of Moisture is the Absence of Issues”

CedarShield is a PENETRANT, not a coating. It is a unique substance that will quickly wick its way through the entire fiber structure of wood. CedarShield will enter the Dark Growth Rings of the wood (spring rings) and from there migrate to all of the surrounding sapwood within the timber. After treatment with CedarShield the wood will no longer expand or contract and will be rendered 100% dimensionally stable. CedarShield is a solvent based wood treatment. CedarCide solvents displace water in wood. CedarShield is a blend of Texas Red Cedar Oil and liquefied Quartz Rock suspended in a White Mineral Oil solution. The Cedar Oil is a Anti-Microbial and a Termiticide. The Quartz substance is a silicon glass-like compound and moisture scavenger. The White Mineral Oil is the carrier that delivers the Cedar Oil and Quartz deep into the fiber and cellular structure of the wood. After application and the internal catalytic conversion back to quartz occurs, the treated wood will take on the early characteristics of PETRIFIED WOOD. “The Absence of Moisture is the Absence of Issues” and from treatment time forward, no moisture will inhabit the wood and subsequently, no insect or wood rot issues will ever affect the timber. CedarShield is a clear transparent liquid which looks similar to water and is about the same viscosity. It is best applied by using a Tank Sprayer often referred to as a pump up garden sprayer. For best aesthetic results we suggest cleaning the surface of the desired treatment area prior to application. REMEMBER, CedarShield will not alter any existing colors or appearances. What you have when you start is what you will have when finished. However, CedarShield will kill any mold or fungal issues on the surface and will arrest any Wood Rotter problems the wood may have. It will effectively penetrate any previous applied stains or coatings but be advised that removal of foreign elements will always create a more eye appealing result. The use of a High Pressure Washer will help in the restoration of the original appearance of the timber by removing the UV graying and impregnated dirt particles. Numerous deck cleaners are available for this purpose. None of these will compromise the CedarShield treatment. SAFETY FIRST:

CedarShield is not considered a hazardous compound. However, in the spirit of safety it is always a good idea to wear eye protection and gloves when handling paints and solvents. Use soap and water to wash away any spillage or to remove any accumulation on your skin. Flush your eyes liberally with water if you accidentally get some in your eyes. If you spill some on your clothes, we suggest you change clothing as any long term exposure to a solvent could create a rash. Always wear a breathing mask when using air assisted spray equipment. (paint guns) If protective clothing is not worn during overhead treatments, we suggest a change of garment is in order upon completion of the treatment process.

Application is best accomplished in the heat of the day. Wood expands and contracts with heat until it is treated with CedarShield. Application in warmer temperatures accelerates the penetration levels by expansion of the wood and will subsequently shorten the application time.

Horizontal Treatments:

Apply CedarShield to a defined area of approximately 100 square foot or less. Using the wand or spray head, discharge the liquid in a spray or mist, holding the nozzle very close to the wood. On horizontal surfaces keep applying the fluid until the surface appears glossy wet. Return to the starting point and reapply again when the solution has soaked into the wood. Repeat at least three times or until the last application appears to be resisting rapid penetration. CedarShield will then wick itself into the wood and the fluid will migrate vertically and horizontally throughout the fiber structure. Move on to the next designated area and repeat the above process. Make sure that you have enough liquid to finish the defined area as partial treatment will not produce a ONETIME LIFETIME result. Treatment from both sides is not necessary however adequate amounts of CedarShield must be applied to insure total penetration. For added Ultra Violet surface protection you can re-treat the surface with CedarShield at any later date. The absorption at that time will be minimal and the solution will be contained to the top surface area of the wood.

Vertical Treatments:

When treating Vertical surfaces, start at the top and treat in the direction of the bottom allowing any run off to be utilized by the untreated wood. Patience must be practiced when applying vertical surfaces as keeping the wood surface wet with solution is more difficult than on horizontal areas. Sometimes the use of a brush is more appropriate than the spray nozzle. Application with a airless gun is desirable for large areas such as Log Cabins and Fences. The Airless gun will inject the fluid instantly into the wood triggering a rapid wicking of solution and eliminating any tedious application efforts. Airless units are available at your local rental store. Be sure you request the SMALLEST NOZZLE available for the gun.

Oil based stains or paints are recommended for application to CedarShield wood. These type of coatings are more adaptable to a solvent treatment than the water based formulas. However, either can be used effectively and without any issues. A 24 hour waiting time is recommended for Oil Based Stains or Paints. A 72 hour waiting time is required for Water Based Stains. Surface wear areas such as walkways and heavy traffic will experience higher levels of wear resistance when coated with oil based products. Paints and Stains will experience a extended adhesion when applied over wood treated with CedarShield as the wood will no longer “move”, the phenomenon that is responsible for rejection of all deck, dock, fence coatings and paints.

Clean up is easy with CedarShield. There is none ! Simply put the cover back on the unused product and store in an area free from any open flame. The product has a perpetual shelf life and will always be ready for you to use on the next project, perhaps the bottom of the doors, door jams or sill plates that insist on rotting. Perhaps the sophet or facial boards of the buildings. Maybe the Picnic table or the children’s playground equipment. Ever think about using a tree stump for a table ? Treat the stump and it will be a permanent Petrified Stump.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: Mite infestations of pets, structures and subsequently a human host have increased dramatically in the last few years. What was once viewed as a phenomenon now appears to be a  everyday occurrence. The application of PET MEDS or commonly known Flea or Spot Drops to the neck of your pet often result in a internal skin parasite issue in your pet and yourself. Fiprinol, Permethrins and other toxins wicked systemically into the animals blood stream result in the creation of a compromised immune system prohibiting the pets body from resisting attack from these wicked internal parasites. Once identified as a host, the mites will attack the dog or cat with overwhelming vigor. Additional mite populations are propagated and in a short period of time the animal and the structure is the recipient of a full blown mite infestation.

The COLUMBELLA MITE is a microscopic parasite found in the air and on all surfaces.  They are introduced to the body through the lungs and subsequently into the blood stream where they are destroyed by the liver as the blood is filtered through the bodies organs. When the pets immune system is compromised with the PET MEDS  its filtering organs cease to function properly and subsequently the blood carried mite will migrate into the epidermal layer of the skin through the blood stream capillaries. When the animal can no longer support the mite population it is hosting, the parasite will adopt another host within the structure. This is normally the care giver or the closest person to the animal. Often this is a chemically imbalanced or less healthy individual that may itself have a over-reactive or compromised immune system.

Once infested with the parasite a persons normal life style is totally disrupted. Constant biting and itching sensations and subsequent eruptions of the skin become debilitating and difficult to endure. The mites will attack the individual from the inside and the outside.  Visual contact is next to impossible and medical diagnosis from the majority of the medical community is wrongfully that of parasitic psychosis. Treatment requires fogging or fumigation of the structure and applications of the MITICIDE, a low molecular weight silicone fluid carrier and modified essential oil of the juniperus virginiana tree (cedar) to the human and animals body.

Internal relief can be obtained with properly dosed regiments of Stromectol, a prescription drug used for eradication of internal parasites. Reduction of the mite population within the structure and surrounding areas and on the human and animals body surface is the first step in elimination of this horrible dilemma. Once this is accomplished and the intake of the parasite is minimized, the mammals body will resume its normal eradication of the COLUMBELLA mite. PET MEDS should be immediately discontinued from any animal health protocols practiced.  Immune system elevating foods and vitamins should be utilized.
